What is Ambil?

Ambil is a type of paste created from Amazonian plants that are grown and harvested through prayer by indigenous communities. Often called "the blood of the mapacho", it is used by various tribes of Colombia and Peru.

Ambil Uitoto is more astringent, and less bitter compared to our original Ambil. The effect from this blend is as unique as our friends of the Uitoto tribe of Colombia who make it. 

The process of making the medicine involves cooking fresh leaves in water over a wood fire for ~3 days until it becomes a paste-like consistency. Ambil is used primarily by ingesting during prayer and meditation and connecting through conversation. It can also be used topically on cuts, wounds, and bug bites for fast healing.

Ambil has various benefits such as realigning our chakras and is especially useful for opening the throat chakras, emotionally grounding us, and promoting positive and sincere conversations, intention in our words, and insightful thoughts. It is also believed to be a means of carrying prayers to the Creator and connecting us to the divine masculine within or Father Spirit within.

More About Ambil Uitoto – The First Ambil

The Uitoto tribe are widely regarded as the first tribe to have received the instructions from Spirit on how to prepare Ambil. Their relationship with this medicine is ancient, sacred, and alive.

In Uitoto tradition, it is said that the deity Dɨona, known as the “ Blood of Mo Buinaima,” is the father of wisdom and creator of their people.

According to sacred stories, the recipe for Ambil was received by their ancestor Monaya Jurama through dreams, gifted by the spirits as a medicine to anchor wisdom and action in the world.

Traditionally, Ambil is one half of a sacred duality. It represents a profound balance which helps to materialize knowledge and bring it into right action. In ceremony, contemplation, or in quiet communion, Ambil carries the lineage of these teachings.

By offering this preparation, we honor not only the medicine itself but the people who have safeguarded its spirit. It is a small way of giving thanks, and of ensuring that the wisdom of Mo Buinaima continues to reach those who seek it.

This is not only a product, but also a connection woven through generations, dreams, and the breath of the forest.

Spirit Visions and the Uitoto Tribe

Long before Spirit Visions ever had a name, before this path of medicine work was fully formed, I found myself sitting in a maloka with the Uitoto tribe. They were the very first tribe I sat with after moving to Colombia- a meeting that would change my life in ways I couldn’t yet imagine. Taita Rodolfo, a respected elder who was well known for his mastery of this medicine, carried the warmth and calm strength of a beloved grandfather. He and his wife, Mama Fareka, alongside their family opened their ceremonial space and hearts to me. It was within that sacred circle, under their guidance, that the seeds of my own transformation were first planted.

Though Taita Rodolfo has since passed, taken from us during the early days of the global pandemic, his wisdom lives on. I remain close with his daughter Jessenia and her husband Samith, who continue their family’s powerful medicine work. It’s with deep respect and honor that we now offer Ambil Uitoto, made by their hands and hearts in the same lineage.

Instructions

Traditionally, Ambil is used by dipping the tip of the pinky finger (the finger of humility) into the paste and applying it along the gum line in the mouth. Keep it in your mouth for 5-10 minutes, swallowing minimally and allowing the medicinal compounds to absorb through the mouth, as you commune with it. After that is complete, swallow the remainder of the Ambil that remains. Store at room temperature, away from sunlight.
