When I was a boy, I grew up close with the plants. My father was a medicine man in our community and he taught me from young age. I remember collecting plants with him, helping prepare medicines, sitting in ceremony beside him. These were my roots, my life.
But after my father passed, I could not stay there. The pain was too much for me. I ran far from the jungle, and I moved to the United States to begin university. I wanted to become a doctor. I thought maybe helping people would help me heal. But in that process, I lost something very important.
For 33 years I lived in the U.S., attending medical school and working long hours, building my life here. I am proud of what I have done. I have helped many people through my medical work. But something was always missing. I didn’t know what it was. I just felt empty in a part of my spirit.
Last month I saw Spirit Visions on Facebook. When I saw the Ayahuasca Trinity Bundle something moved inside of me. It was like a spark in my chest. I didn’t fully understand, but I knew I had to try.
When I received the bundle, I began using the medicines every day. The first days were soft, but quickly, the memories began to return. I dreamed again. I saw my father. I still love my work here as a doctor. It is good work and it has meaning. But something inside of me is shifting. I feel that a change is coming in my life. I don’t know what it is yet, but I feel peace in trusting the process. I am letting the medicine show me the way.
